Nothing kicks you into gear like cancer

The catalyst

In 2016 not long after turning twenty two, Abhishek was diagnosed with tongue cancer. The year that followed was filled with surgeries, hospital visits and lots of contemplation.

Contemplation, along with watching numerous episodes of Man vs Wild, thru hiking YouTube videos, climbing documentaries of legends like Ueli Steck and Dean Potter. Then one day there was the realisation that these achievements didn’t have to be experienced from behind a screen.

Making it happen

It all begins with an idea.

After spending the rest of 2016 recovering and 2017 getting back into the routine of full-time study, it was time to make a decision: would that realisation be for naught? Abhishek knew he had to try the adventures that always inspired him.

What to attempt first? Swimming the Channel, climbing Everest or running the Marathon de Sables? It had to be the Channel! Because climbing the tallest mountain in the world was too expensive for a university student and running was hard.

An English Channel crossing, solo ironman, some triathlons and marathons later, it’s 2023 and something bigger is brewing…

Stay tuned.
